Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, known professionally as Nicki Minaj is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and actress. Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and raised in Queens, New York City, she started gaining public recognition after releasing the mixtapes Playtime Is Over, Sucka Free, and Beam Me Up Scotty.
Today, she is the most successful female rapper in history, and has explored a great variety of genres throughout her discography, including Hip-Hop, R&B, and Pop. She is also known for her many collaborations, including pop stars such as Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, K-Pop group BTS, and one of her most recent collaborations with Karol G, to name just a few. Another unique aspect of her, is her fast rapping, the use of alter egos, the use of colorful wigs and costumes early in her career, and is also considered one of the most influential rap artists of all time.
